World Wetlands Day

World Wetlands Day (WWD) is celebrated on February 2 each year to commemorate the signing of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.

Every year, the Ramsar convention invites all stakeholders to build their event around a common theme. In addition, the theme chosen this year to animate the day is: “Acting for wetlands is acting for humanity and nature”.

This theme underlines the urgent need to act for wetlands, one of the most precious ecosystems in the world, and to promote the sustainable use of these fragile environments.

On the strength of this observation and in line with its missions to make water resources a factor of peace and security, the Pôle Eau de Dakar takes this opportunity to wish you a good day and a good event full of success.
